Essentials of Equine Dentistry - A 2 day Practical Course
(12.08.2015) Over the past 20 years huge advances have been made in Equine Dentistry and new sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic techniques aiming at dental disease prevention and dental sparing have been published.
This 2-day highly practical course is aimed at practitioners who want to update their knowledge and especially their practical skills in equine dentistry through highly-illustrated lectures and the 7 hours of wetlabs on live horses and specimens in small groups. The panel of internationally renowned specialists in equine dentistry will be starting with an in-depth anatomic review, over dental prevention, diagnostic imaging incl. oral endoscopy, to therapeutic procedures like extraction of wolf and cheek teeth, diastema treatment etc. through the following lectures in English (with Hungarian translation):
Equine Dental Anatomy
The Oral Examination
Incisors, Canines & Wolf Teeth
Routine Equine Dental Procedures, incl. Manual & Motorised Instruments
Cheek Teeth Overgrowth and their Corrections
Diagnostic Imaging in Equine Dentistry Radiography, CT, Ultrasound & Oral Endoscopy
Dental Extractions
Advanced Cheek Tooth Pathology Fractures, Endodontics & Periodontal Disease etc.
Between both afternoons 7 hours of practical sessions will provide an ideal environment for delegates to develop their practical skills on live horses and equine specimens in true small groups (2 vets per specimen) at the following stations:
Oral Examination incl. dental anatomy & pathology
Dental Charting
Routine Dental Care
Routine dentistry including overgrowth correction I & II
Dental Imaging Radiography, Ultrasound & Oral Endoscopy
The course fee includes lunches, coffee/tea breaks, extensive course notes and a certificate of attendance. Delegates can choose to only attend the lectures (= Lectures Only) on this course or can register for the entire course (= Lectures & Practical Sessions). On the evening of the first day all delegates are invited to attend the course dinner, which costs 4,200 HUF (not included in the registration fee; drinks will be charged extra). Early course registration is recommended as there are only a limited number of places available.
